Contest will run between January 23, 2014 and March 2014.  All online guesses must be submitted by midnight on February 28, 2014. All offline guesses (checks with forms) must be sent in envelopes postmarked by February 28, 2014.  Note: Winner will be for 1st ice out date beginning March 1st.  If the ice is out prior to March 1st, as evidenced by the tripod sinking into the water, the contest will carry over, guesses intact, to 2015.

All proceeds, less expenses, will be turned over to CLA (Chautauqua Lake Association) to help clean and protect our area’s natural asset.

The more participation we have this year, the greater the size of the jackpot!

  1. The Winner will receive 25% of the entire jackpot!  – This could be $2000.00 to $5000.00 or more!
  2. The next five closest guesses will each receive 5% of the entire jackpot!  – This could be $400.00 to $1000.00 or more!
  3. The Chautauqua Lake Association will receive 50% of the entire jackpot!

Whoever guesses the minute closest to the time the tripod is submerged will be declared the winner.  Each guess will require a $5 donation and can be made via credit card or by sending a check. The Ice Pick consists of four stabilizer feet and a center pole or “pick”. For the Ice Pick Event to be officially declared over, the clock must stop or the feet/pick of the quadripod must be submerged in water. The Ice Pick will not be declared having fallen through the ice until the moment the clock stops or the stabilizer feet are through the ice and submerged in water.

Multiple guesses are encouraged and we hope that you will help get the event underway with your support.  If you are not interested in participating in the guessing, donations to the cause are, of course, very much appreciated.

Weekly update as to the amount donated in the contest will appear on the CLIP homepage:
